TO/DIE/FOR Taking A "Break", Pursuing Outside Projects
February 14, 2002Finland's TO/DIE/FOR are taking a break to evaluate their future plans before deciding whether or not to carry on as a band, according to recent posting by lead guitarist Joonas “Jope” Koto. In the message, which was posted on the message board of TO/DIE/FOR's official web site, Koto vowed to renegotiate “all deals” before contemplating making another record, a sentiment that echoes the one in an earlier posting (since deleted) by vocalist Jape Perätalo in which the frontman expressed his extreme dissatisfaction with the music “business” and indicated that the group was on the verge of splitting up. For the moment, at least, it appears that both Koto and Perätalo are focusing all their attention on outside projects, with the guitarist presently recording the sophomore album from longtime outfit MALPRACTICE (the follow-up to 1999's Of Shapes And Balance) while the singer is busy demoing material with an as-yet-unnamed new project that also features in its ranks NEW DAWN FOUNDATION members Juppe and Santtu.
